    "If you not happy here, quit." "Okay." SOC A couple years ago I worked at a hotel doing maintenance. I'll admit I wasn't all that good at my job, but I tried like and tried to learn all I could. I had been starting to get miserable there (I

    had been at the place for 2 years, and my supervisor was REALLY starting to grate on me ), but I got a two week break when my grandmother had an injury (I took care of her when I wasn't there ), so I informed the hotel I would be gone for two weeks to make sure she recovers. They said it was fine.

    So I'm nearing the end of the two weeks (I was going back the following Monday), and I get hit up by my supervisor chastising me for not communicating with him, but instead chose to talk with the front desk manager...because she cared enough to ask. He wanted to know when I was coming back. I

    said "Probably Monday." I was leaving myself a little wiggle room in case something else happened. He comes back with "That's not definitive enough for me." "FINE. See you Monday." I thought that was the end of it. Nope. "Thanks for the attitude. thumbs up emoji" Now, if he had left it at that, I still might've gone

    back when I was supposed to, but then he comes back with "No one's forcing you to come back. If you're not happy here, quit." I stared at the message for a bit and thought "Wow, I really am miserable there. Okay." So I sat down and wrote my resignations. Went in the next morning with my shirts and my keys. Had to explain why I was quitting twice;

    once to the FDM, and then to the owners. They didn't want me to leave. Tried to get me to stay. I told them my supervisor was the reason. Owners wanted me to sleep on it, but my mind was made up. I thanked them for

    everything, tossed my keys in the shop where my supervisor's office was and left. Supervisor tried to get me to come back too, but I simply told him to off.

    as they have any ability to affect my work life, I do not want to come back" and see if they offer a promotion to where you are no longer answerable to crappy sup.

    ProjectShadow316 OP They kinda did, but I know I would've had to eventually deal with my supervisor. It just wasn't worth the headache or the stress anymore, so I just opted to leave. Easily one of th best decisions I even made, though.

    QueerWorf I don't understand. Treat employee like Employee leAves. Employer shocked and regretful. Learn nothing. Repeat cycle

    Stabbmaster - 3 yr. ago If they had you go through two people to explain why you were leaving, I'm surprised they didn't try to offer you something to stay. I mean, that would be the perfect opportunity of "I'm leaving because of this person. So long

    The MaskedAvenger1959. One of my friends was very unhappy at his job and decided to quit it but he was about to go on a trip to Japan where he would live in Tokyo and teach English to Japanese adults to live on. So he said nothing to anyone at work and had two weeks vacation coming so he worked late the Friday before he left

    finishing up all his projects and then theft this note on the office bulletin board! Dear Everyone, I've enjoyed working with you all as individuals very much, but I can't take some of the going on here anymore. So I'm quitting as of the end of the last day of my (earned) vacation and am going to Japan for

    He found out later, when he returned that the reaction to his public goodbye note which had a photo of Mount Fujiyama attached got a huge reaction the next Monday. Some of upper management was quite upset that he would leave this way and decided to change a few company policies towards treatment of staff and staff

    development in positive ways. His trip was amazing and he was there long enough to have reverse culture shock on his return. Eventually, he asked out a Japanese girl who was here to get a US degree and learn English better. I was the best man at their wedding.

    ProjectShadow316 OP Wow, that's a a story! I'm glad that not only did he get out, but his exit got such a reaction that they actually of changed the rules in regarding how they treat employees. I'm very happy for him.
